Fixing Stuff Yourself Around.

There are a lot of things that we can make better by a little collective effort.

I live in a developing country and we have a lot to make better and we are gradually proceeding towards it. But we can start it from ourselves by putting effort in our daily life activities. We can start from a very famous example of making our bed right after waking up. Similarly we can do other daily chores in order to develop the habit of managing ourselves and our surroundings in a better and timely way.

I have seen structural and infrastructure problems in different areas areas of Pakistan. I had a chance to visit an old city of Pakistan. That beautiful and mesmerizing city is Chitral and it was a part of Gandhara civilization and has a very rich and cultural history. The infrastructure problem I witnessed was deadly for some citizens due to extremely bad plight of roads but the people there were very careful and conscious of their issues and they use to actively protest for their rights to get their issues resolved by the administration.

My hometown is Jahanian. Jahanian is a small city and it is one of the tehsil of the District Khanewal in South Punjab Province of Pakistan. This area is famous for its delicious mangoes in summers and oranges in winter season.

One of the problem is of this city is that administration is not adhere to the issues faced by public but it is getting better now. The main issue is infrastructure and cleanliness. People often through trash on streets, and on the empty sides of the roads. There are some streets in which trash bins are installed but still people are not willing to throw trash in the designated places instead of making roads dirty . Solution of the problem lies in both educating and the public about their civil duties and civil rights. In order to raise awareness we need a special awareness campaign which compel people to throw trash in the designated areas if they have to go out of their way to do that. Secondly we can tell the importance and urgency of the cleanliness and how much it has been repeatedly taught and practiced by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

I have done this and it took me a very little time and effort to do this. It would teach the public that they are not supposed to throw trash on the streets and roads. I felt very happy and contented after doing this activity and community service should always remain the part of your life no matter what are you doing professionally. As Vince Lombardi once said:

“I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle — victorious.”
